One Billion Rising Dance Workshop

Date/Time
02/02/2020
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Sunday, 2nd of February between 2-4pm at Solomon Browne Hall in Mousehole

We are CALLING YOU!

We need YOU! It’s a special invitation…

Joining forces are KERPOW (Kernow Power of Women) led by Kyla Goodey, Aga Blonska, Becca Mordan  and Helen Tiplady with Hall for Cornwall to create an unforgettable opportunity to join thousands of people across the globe taking part in the ONE BILLION RISING Solidarity campaign – the biggest mass action to end violence against women.

1 in 3 women across the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. That’s ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. Every February, we rise – in countries across the world – to show local communities and the world what one billion looks like and shine a light on the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors most often face. We rise through dance to express joy and community and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence. We rise to show we are determined to create a new kind of consciousness – one where violence will be resisted until it is unthinkable.

In 2020, thousands of ONE BILLION RISING events will take place throughout the world – and this is your chance to be a part of the KERPOW/HFC event happening in TRURO CITY CENTRE on February 14th at 6pm.

What? An international Flash Mob

Who? All

What are we asking of you?

This invitation is to take part in a workshop to learn a short dance choreographed by Emily Alden, to then teach and rehearse with your families, friends and neighbours.

We will all dance together during ONE BILLION RISING event on Feb 14th. Excited? We are!

Come along to practice at the Solomon Browne Hall in Mousehole from 2-4pm on Sunday, 2 February.

Solomon Brown Hall has kindly allowed us to use their space for free, but as it is a charity it’ll be great if we could all make a small donation (only if you can afford it) to help cover the cost of heating and a caretaker open and closing the Hall for us. They’ll leave out their donation box.

More information about the actual event on 14 Februrary to follow, which will be added to the Hall for Cornwall website.

Watch this space!

Come and join us, and rise for change!
